Law firm Addisons has advised Sicona Battery Technologies Pty Ltd (Sicona) on its AU$22 million Series A funding round, led by Himadri Speciality Chemical Limited, one of Indian’s leading speciality chemical conglomerates.
Sicona develops next generation battery materials technology used in the anodes of lithium-ion batteries that enable electric-mobility and storage of renewable energy. Sicona is commercialising an innovative silicon-composite battery anode technology and selling into the fast growing global battery market through a focused partnership approach.
Addisons’ Managing Partner Kieren Parker said, “We are delighted for Christiaan Jordaan, Andrew Minett and the Sicona team to close this funding round. It was great to see a combination of new investors, led by Himadri, and existing shareholders, including Artesian, participating in the round. We continue to witness impressive companies, led by impressive founders, successfully navigate a challenging fundraising environment, and scalable battery technology is an exciting part of the clean energy transition that continues to attract investor support.”
“Sicona is super grateful for the support from Addisons, specifically Rebecca and Kieren, through this fundraising,” Sicona CEO and cofounder Christiaan Jordaan said, “We are pleased to have had Addisons in our corner from day one when we first started Sicona back in 2019. Without a doubt, we’re partnered with the best corporate lawyers in Australia!”
