Belinda is a competition/antitrust & consumer lawyer who advises clients on complex competition law issues, merger clearance, regulatory investigations, compliance matters and regulation.
She works with Australian and international businesses on a broad range of business-critical competition law issues, including mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, strategic collaborations, distribution arrangements, exclusive dealing, to-market strategies, pricing practices and compliance frameworks. Belinda’s strategic approach has resulted in a track record of success, particularly in obtaining competition clearances for complex domestic and cross-border transactions, including multi-jurisdictional matters across Australia and the Asia-Pacific region.
Belinda is known for delivering practical, commercially focused advice that helps clients navigate regulatory risk and achieve their strategic objectives. She regularly advises on competition compliance, investigations and regulatory engagement, drawing on her deep understanding of how regulators assess and approach complex matters.
Belinda leverages her deep sector knowledge to guide clients in a range of industries, including pharmaceuticals, consumer goods and retail, financial services, technology, manufacturing, energy and infrastructure. She also advises on the regulation of essential services and access, including energy, rail, ports, telecommunications, open banking, aviation, as well as foreign investment approvals through the Foreign Investment Review Board (FIRB).
Before entering private practice, Belinda worked at the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC), where she advised on mergers and acquisitions, authorisations and competition litigation. She also held investigative and regulatory roles within the ACCC and the Australian Energy Regulator, providing her with valuable insight into regulatory decision-making and enforcement processes.
achieved clearance for Connective of its proposed merger with Australian Financial Group after significant competition concerns were raised in Phase II without remedies.
advised Ernst & Young as voluntary administrators to Rex Airlines on competition and consumer risks and merger clearance associated with the group’s restructure.
advised G&W on the competition elements of litigation in the Supreme Court of New South Wales against Aurizon.
advised on competition compliance and acquisition strategy across its brand portfolio.
provided strategic advice on the to-market strategy across a portfolio of products in concentrated or monopoly markets.
advised on all competition facets of the off-market takeover of ASX listed Namoi Cotton including obtaining clearance in Phase II subject to undertakings.
advised MidOcean Energy Holdings on competition strategy and merger clearance for its consortium bid with Brookfield to acquire 100% of shares in Origin Energy for $18.2 billion.
advised Nestlé, in its sale of the Vita Brits brand to direct competitor, Sanitarium.
advised on the competitive sale process for the Spotless Laundries business, including two competing bids subject to Phase II merger clearance review.
