Andrus’ experience includes advising and acting for builders, developers, and owners corporations in negotiating contracts and disputes relating to commercial, civil and residential developments. He has extensive experience acting in court, expert determinations, mediation, and security of payment adjudications.

He regularly assists his clients navigate the legal issues from negotiating contracts, project disputes, contested litigation and reaching commercial settlements.  

Andrus has advised and/or acted in complex disputes relating to many developments in NSW including the Sydney Light Rail, Barangaroo, and large mixed residential and commercial developments throughout Sydney. His commercial approach focuses on a client’s goals to prioritise the key issues for resolving a problem or dispute. He has experience navigating clients through the evolving regulatory landscape, including bringing one of the first successful cases challenging a Building Works Rectification Order by the Office of Building Commissioner on behalf of an owners corporation.

Andrus applies the latest technology in his work in particular ever evolving artificial intelligence where possible to streamline his work.

The Owners - Strata Plan

acted for an owners corporation of a 58 lot residential strata scheme and assisted with final hearing before a court appointed referee of a building defects dispute.

acted in Supreme Court proceedings disputing the validity of a Building Works Rectification Order issued by the Office of Building Commissioner, and ran the successful hearing for the client’s costs (first case of its kind).

assisted with advising and defending proceedings in the Federal Court by an early works contractor relating to the Sydney Light Rail project.

acted for Council in Security of Payment, then Supreme Court proceedings concerning an incomplete and defective retirement village development.
