Pro Bono
Regional Circularity Co-operative Limited and the Bega Circular Valley Project
Since 2021 Addisons has provided pro bono legal assistance to establish Regional Circularity Co-operative Limited (RCC) and implement its projects relating to circular economic initiatives. This assistance has included legal work associated with the establishment of RCC in 2021 as a not-for-profit entity, supporting the activities and governance of RCC’s board and reviewing documents relating to the funding and implementation of RCC’s projects.
RCC’s objects to formulate, promote and implement projects and initiatives relating to circular economies in the Bega Valley Shire and other geographic regions. A circular economy is one in which resources are kept in use for as long as possible, extracting the maximum value from them whilst in use, then recover and regenerate products and materials at the end of their life. This provides a more efficient, sustainable and environmentally sound economic model for businesses and regions.
The Bega Circular Valley program and the development of a Centre for Circularity in the town of Bega, NSW are flagship projects of RCC. The Centre for Circularity will be a facility in the town of Bega that will showcase circular economic principles and initiatives and provide a modern tourism centre that will allow visitors to learn about and experience the application of circular economic principles within the Bega Valley Region. The facility has been designed by prominent international firm, Cox Architecture, with construction to commence once final government approvals have been obtained. This video, by Cox Architecture provides a virtual guide as to what the Centre will look like.
