Law firm Addisons acted as legal advisers to private credit fund management firm Payton Capital on its acquisition by HMC Capital (ASX:HMC), an ASX-listed alternative asset manager.
The transaction has further fuelled market commentary that private credit is a hot sector at present, with investors seeing significant growth potential in the space.
Payton Capital specialises in the provision of wholesale, property-backed debt to businesses and real estate developers.
The Addisons team advising Payton Capital was led by Partner Robert Kerr, supported by Partner Daniel Goldberg, Special Counsel Richard Francis, and solicitors Donna Kwon and Cathy Tran.
Addisons Partner Robert Kerr said, “It has been a privilege to act for Payton on this transaction. A notable feature of this transaction is the very significant shareholding held by the Payton Foundation, the Payton family’s philanthropic organisation. This transaction will accelerate and solidify the Payton Foundation’s ability to have an impact in its philanthropic endeavours for the long term. We congratulate all the sellers on their successful exit.”
