Addisons (“we”, “us”) respects the confidential and private nature of any information you provide to us. We are bound by and deal with the personal information you provide to us in accordance with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) (the Privacy Act) and the Australian Privacy Principles (the APPs). This Privacy Policy explains how we manage and handle the personal information we collect and does not replace or limit our obligations under the Privacy Act and the APPs.

The types of personal information we collect about you includes:

  • Employment information

From time to time we may also collect sensitive information from you. (This may include health information or membership details of professional or trade associations or political parties.) If we do collect sensitive information from you, we will not do so without first obtaining your consent.

5. Security of your personal information

We store personal information in hard copy and electronic format. We take reasonable steps to protect the personal information we hold from:

  • misuse, interference and loss; and
  • unauthorised access, modification or disclosure.

Records containing personal information are accessible to employees of Addisons to enable them to perform their duties. Addisons’ employees are subject to confidentiality and privacy requirements.

6. Do we use cookies?

When you visit our website or download information, our Internet Service Provider (ISP) makes a record of your visit and records information such as your internet address, your domain name (if applicable), the date and time, the document pages that you download and links from other sites that you have followed to reach our website.

Your internet browser will store a small message called a cookie, which is sent by our web server. Cookies can be used to monitor visits to our website and website traffic patterns. This information is anonymous and is only used for statistical purposes and we do not make use of cookies to store or record personal information.

8. How can you access and/or correct your personal information?

While we take reasonable steps to make sure that the personal information we collect, use or disclose is accurate, complete and up-to-date, we do so on the basis that the personal information that we receive about you is both accurate and complete. We may seek further information from you to verify your identity and/or clarify details of any request made.

We will endeavour to deal with your request as soon as is reasonably practicable.

We may refuse you access to the personal information we hold about you where required by law. If we refuse access to your personal information, we will provide you with reasons for our refusal (unless it would be unreasonable for us to do so) and measures which you can take to complain about any refusal.

There is no charge for requesting access to the personal information we hold about you.

9. How can you make a complaint?

We are committed to treating seriously all complaints made by any person concerning the privacy of any personal information we hold about them.

Any complaint which you may have relating to the privacy of any personal information held about you by Addisons, must be made in writing and signed by you, your guardian or your power of attorney. Complaints should be sent:

We will endeavour to deal with your complaint as soon as is reasonably practicable.

If, after receiving our response, you are not satisfied with the outcome, you may refer the matter to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner.

10. Variation of the Privacy Policy

We may vary this Privacy Policy from time to time. This will be done by way of an update to our website to include any changes to this Privacy Policy. By continuing to use the website, use our services or provide us with your personal information, you acknowledge that you have read and accept these changes.
